Development projects in the Philadelphia region are still facing a lot of uncertainty in 2024 as some have been paused, altered, or stopped altogether, writes Paul Schwedelson and Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

There is still a sense of optimism, however, that many of these projects will help improve the region’s economic future.

Here are a couple of Montgomery County projects to watch for in 2024.

Villanova University Campus

Villanova University is beginning work this year on a $150 million project to create a 150,000-square-foot new library.

The project includes demolishing Kennedy Hall which currently is home to the school’s bookstore and administrative offices.

Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and be completed in 2027.

Former Inquirer Plant

DH Property Holdings, based in New York, has submitted to Upper Merion Township a proposal for 746,240 square feet of industrial to be developed on the 46-acre site of the former Philadelphia Inquirer printing plant.

No date has been given for the project to be presented to the Upper Merion Township Planning Commission.
