Macy’s Shuttering 150 Stores, Will the Willow Grove Park Mall Location Be One of Them?
Macy’s new strategic vision, “A Bold New Chapter,” calls for the closing of 150 stores to prioritize the other 350 more productive locations, writes Julia Gomez and Peg Quann for the Bucks County Courier Times.
What that will mean for the Macy’s stores in the local shopping malls including the Willow Grove Park Mall, remains to be seen, but it looks like the Willow Grove location has escaped the chopping block for now.
By 2026, Macy’s will cut about 30% of all its locations, with 50 of the stores shuttered by the end of this fiscal year.
Tony Spring, Macy’s CEO, said, “A Bold New Chapter serves as a strong call to action. It challenges the status quo to create a more modern Macy’s, Inc. We are making the necessary moves to reinvigorate relationships with our customers through improved shopping experiences, relevant assortments, and compelling value.”
Macy’s hasn’t released which stores will be closed yet, but a spokesperson for the Willow Grove Park Mall store said it is “not closing.”
The fates of the Oxford Valley and Montgomery Mall stores are yet unknown. The Macy’s at the Neshaminy Mall has already been closed for several years.
Read more about Macy’s new strategic vision and which stores in our area will be affected in the Bucks County Courier Times.
