Harleysville Hank is the pride of Montgomery County and the third most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania, or second if you discount PA Lottery's Gus.

While most of the nation will look to Punxsutawney Phil for his weather prediction on Friday, a smaller but just as enthusiastic crowd will gather locally to get their forecast from Harleysville Hank, writes Damon C. Williams and Nicholas Sorensen for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Hank is the pride of Montgomery County and the third most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania, or second if you discount PA Lottery’s Gus.

Last year, Hank broke ranks with Phil in their weather predictions. While the more famous groundhog saw his shadow and foresaw six more weeks of winter, Hank signaled an early spring.

Groundhog Day fans who want to partake in the local version of the event can start gathering at 6:45 a.m. on Friday for the Harleysville Hank Groundhog Day Extravaganza.

This is the tenth anniversary of the groundhog forecasting celebration. The event takes place at the Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville and includes songs, a reading, warm drinks, and more.

Hank even took a small tour of Pennsylvania to hype up his Friday shadow reveal, visiting local seats of government and organizations.
