American Heritage Credit Union is awarding 30 high school senior members with a $1,000 scholarship to help ease the financial burden of higher education expenses.

American Heritage’s Scholarship Committee will select the 2024 recipients based on their scholarly merits, community and school involvement, a letter of recommendation, credit union eligibility, and a submitted essay describing an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of oneself or others.

Eligibility requirements for graduating high school seniors include:

• Minimum GPA of 2.5 on transcript
• Formal acceptance to an accredited two- or four-year college, university, trade, technical, or business school
• Be a member in good standing of American Heritage since April 1, 2023 (applicant must have an account in their name to qualify)
• Cannot be an employee or family member of an American Heritage employee

The Scholarship Program honors American Heritage’s Chairperson Emerita, Cecilia B. Grady, who served on American Heritage’s Board of Directors for more than 40 years. American Heritage’s annual scholarship program represents her dedication to financial literacy, education, and community outreach.

“With each new year, we continue to see the cost of a higher education increase, and in most circumstances, additional aid or scholarships are necessities to assist with the cost,” said Bruce K. Foulke, American Heritage’s President and CEO. “These students and future community leaders are graduating with more debt and financial burdens than any generation before them. This is one of the reasons we offer our Scholarship Program, to help ease higher education costs and expenses however they see fit to better themselves and their education.
