Brooke Fenchel, a Souderton senior, and basketball star, is following in the footsteps of her mother, Jess Lundgren Fenchel, writes Melissa Hanejko for the Bucks County Courier Times.

After a senior season that was different than she expected but still helped her learn a lot, she will continue playing at Messiah University, under the same coach that trained her mother years ago.

“I always had Messiah in mind for college, as I feel at home there,” said Fenchel. “I grew up going to their games. My mom used to give pre-game speeches to the team in the locker room.”

Fenchel ended her high school career in the regular season, after Souderton failed to complete a district and state playoff run. While that was a disappointment, she realized it could have been exactly what she needed.

Throughout the season, Fenchel worked with the younger players to help lay the foundation for their future success and she also worked on developing her own skills further.

“This year I was able to improve parts of my game, such as mid-range shooting and working on finishes,” she said. “I was grateful to have those opportunities.”
