SEPTA Brings More Countdown Clocks To Its Subway Stations

The countdown clocks have been popping up inside subway stations. However, there is no definitive timeline for when the official rollout will occur.

Countdown clocks were recently installed at 30th Street and Girard stations as part of SEPTA’s device testing initiative, writes Michaela Althouse for PhillyVoice.

SEPTA debuted the countdown clocks, which show the number of minutes before the next train arrives, at 15th Street Station in June.

The clocks at 30th Street Station were installed several months ago, however had been turned on until recently.

Moving forward, SEPTA will monitor the countdown clocks’ progress.

Clocks were originally scheduled to appear in stations in 2020 but had to be delayed due to a malware attack.

“Unfortunately, it has been taking longer than expected to fine-tune the backend software. It is being worked on,” SEPTA wrote in a tweet.

While there is no firm timeline as to when the official rollout will occur, SEPTA has hopes.

“We are hopeful to see it starting to roll out in the fall, but we don’t have a definite date at this time,” it continued.
