The popular diner franchise Nifty Fifty’s is adding another location in the Philadelphia region in early January, writes Michael Tanenbaum for PhillyVoice.

The soft opening of the new Abington restaurant will be on January 6, with the grand opening to follow on January 8.

Nifty Fifty’s, which first opened in 1987 in Ridley Township, Delaware County, is known for its retro diner décor and its delicious burgers and shakes.

The new location at 1140 Old York Road was expected to open last fall, but there were construction delays.

The surrounding neighborhood also had concerns about parking, but the new restaurant has ample parking spots.

Other franchise locations include Fishtown, Newtown Square, Warminster, and South Philadelphia.
