Former General Manager at My Loup Neil Ross recently took a leap and started a new career as an account manager at The Wine Merchant LTD.

He talked to Alisha Miranda at Philadelphia Magazine about his experience in the hospitality industry from Ardmore’s Positano Ristorante to My Loup in Philly, and how the skills he learned readied him for taking on the challenge of a new career.

His first restaurant gig was during high school at Positano Ristorante in Ardmore. He worked there for 11 years. He started waiting tables at Estia as soon as he graduated from Temple University where he studied broadcasting, telecommunications, and mass media.

He eventually became a beverage manager for Estia, assistant general manager at Vernick Fish, and then general manager of My Loup.

Ross said he always had a passion for wine and pursued his wine certification while climbing the ranks in the restaurant industry.

Now he will use all his experience with wine, management, and customer service in a new way at The Wine Merchant.

He said, “Some key values I am taking from My Loup to my new job are…integrity, genuine hospitality, and caring about the people who work for you…”

He added that “nothing is more important than one-on-one interpersonal communication.”
