Bryn Mawr Billionaire Shares a Skill All Highly Successful People Use
Bryn Mawr billionaire and Founder and CEO of Fanatics Michael Rubin shared the one skill all highly successful people use and how he uses it every day, writes Ashton Jackson for CNBC.
Fanatics, a sports merchandise retailer, was worth $31 billion as of 2022. Rubin himself is worth $11.5 billion.
He attributes much of his success to pattern recognition. From making business decisions to playing blackjack, he uses this skill to make good choices.
Rubin gave an example of how he approaches the hiring process of new employees. He said when he has a good interview with someone, he immediately starts calling people they know in common to recognize patterns.
“Someone could blow me away…but you find out people don’t like working with them. Or you can find out that person was a little bit understated, but they’re a beast,” he said.
“Pattern recognition is everything. I use it in everything that I do.”
Other successful businessmen like Warren Buffet have also discussed the importance of pattern recognition and how the skill can help you avoid potential conflicts and bad outcomes.
He said he used it to avoid making a bad investment decision in a pharmaceutical company.
