Ethan Johnston has already started generating buzz as a college prospect. He received his first scholarship offer from Fordham in November.

Sophomore Ethan Johnston, a Queens native, is the latest New York City basketball star who joined The Hill School in Pottstown and is ready to star for the Blues, writes Owen McCue for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

After playing one season at the Dwight School in Manhattan, Johnston arrived at the Montgomery County boarding school this summer.

“I kind of left because the competition level isn’t where I wanted it to be,” he said. “I went to look for prep schools because I thought it was a chance for me, myself as a person to grow and as a basketball player.”

The boarding school experience is new for Johnston, but he is not alone. His team currently has players from as far away as Ireland and Nigeria.

“It’s been fun,” he said. “You make friends from all over the world. It almost gives you a balance of basketball and school.”

“That was amazing,” he said. “It was actually surreal. I felt like I’ve been recognized.”
