Afternoon tea is more of an art form than a meal. There is nothing quite like having high tea with a china tea pot and fancy sandwiches and pastries, writes Emily Kovach for PA Eats.

In our fast-paced society, the idea of taking the time in the middle of the day to sip tea and conversate with friends may seem like a luxury from a long-gone area. It doesn’t have to be though.

There are two cozy spots in Montgomery County to switch to the slow lane for a little while and enjoy a fine dining experience.

Located in West Point, The Village Tea House is set in a 127-year-old Victorian home. The elegant tearoom offers a variety of meals to have with your afternoon tea, including Margaret’s Full Tea Meal, Village Style with soup or quiche du jour, a house salad, a fresh scone with seasonal curd and Devonshire cream, tea sandwiches, and petite sweets.

In Wayne, A Taste of Britain has been offering a unique afternoon tea experience for more than 30 years. While they also have a regular tea shop, on certain afternoons throughout the year, the shop will host special afternoon tea services with delicious treats like wild mushroom, bacon, and gruyere quiche and scones.
