Lower Merion’s Sam Flood Named Main Line Boys Athlete of the Week

Flood started playing ice hockey at 3 years old and loves it.

Ice hockey player Sam Flood from Lower Merion is this week’s Main Line Boys’ Athlete of the Week, writes Bruce Adams for Main Line Media News.

Flood plays for the Central League and as of December 16 has 18 goals and 12 assists under his belt.

Four of the goals have been game-winners.

Dan Harkins, Lower Merion boys’ ice hockey head coach, said, “He’s been so good, that he has become a target of the opposition to try and shut him down offensively, but the league has been largely unsuccessful in doing so. Doing what Sam has done as only a sophomore, and with such a big target on him every night has been remarkable.”

On the key to his success on the ice this season, Flood said, “Just getting the puck to the net, really working hard to come up with the best effort for my team. The key to scoring a lot this season is just hard work and making all the players around me better.”

Flood started playing ice hockey at 3 years old and loves it. His favorite pre-game meal is bananas.

One professional hockey player he admires is Conner Bedard, a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Chicago Blackhawks. His favorite team is the Boston Bruins.
