Ambler Teen Skates to Fame as Cast of Disney+ Spinoff ‘The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’

By

The career of Ambler teen actor Maxwell Simkins can in no way be described as having skated on thin ice. He’s now a cast member of the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Alicia Vitarelli took a shot at covering his story for 6abc.

Simkins — a veteran of Disney Channel shows that included Kim Possible — started acting at age six. His first professional role was in the Rob Reiner film And So it Goes (2014), with Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton.

His Disney+ series is a spinoff of the Mighty Ducks (1992). Its plot involved a self-centered attorney (Emilio Estevez) reluctantly coaching a rag-tag boys hockey team.

The original film two theatrically released sequels and now, the Disney+ series.

Knowing that his family-friendly filmography has made him a fan among youngsters, Simkins is very honest about his personal struggles, hoping to inspire other kids.

“I’ve dealt with some bullies and had some problems here and there, like everyone has,” he said. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you stand back up. I think that really shows character and strength. I think that matters more than anything.”
