Admirers of history, architecture, and the charm of older homes are in for a treat with the Pottstown GoFourth! 5th Annual Historic Pottstown Holiday Tour on Sunday, December 3.  Tourgoers will have the opportunity to explore homes in the Chicken Hill Section of town, and beyond.

This year’s tour has a special focus: the recently released book titled “The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store” by James McBride, which is inspired by the captivating history of Pottstown’s Chicken Hill.

As part of the 2023 tour, tour organizers invite you to explore the beautiful homes nestled around the Pottstown Chicken Hill Neighborhood.

This tour promises to be an unforgettable experience, filled with fascinating stories and a deep appreciation for the rich heritage of this beloved community of years gone by.

For a truly immersive experience, there is a combo ticket for a Historic Guided Trolley Tour plus the Historic Pottstown House Tour.  This package, priced at $60, includes a ticket for the trolley tour and a Historic Pottstown House Tour ticket.

The trolley tour is guided by Pottstown Historian Michael Snyder, who will regale tourgoers with fascinating historical points of interest and intriguing facts about the Chicken Hill section of town.

There are two trolley tour runs, 1:30 (sold out) and 3:30 pm. Before or after the trolley tour, depending on ticket time, ticket holders will have the opportunity to visit the tour houses at their leisure, taking time to explore these local gems and uncovering the stories they hold.

Please note that tickets for the trolley tour are extremely limited and early ticket purchase is strongly recommended.

An Early Bird discount is available for General Admission House Tour Tickets until December 2nd, with a ticket price of $25.  Tickets are available at the door for $30 on the day of the event.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to peek inside some of Pottstown’s fantastic homes,” said Jo Bathurst, chair of the GoFourth! Historic Pottstown Holiday Tour.

“The property owners who are participating will pull out all the stops to showcase these Pottstown gems. We truly appreciate their generosity in welcoming guests into their homes.”

“Even if you can’t enjoy the tour in person, you can show your pride in our beautiful community by purchasing the 2024 Pottstown Historic House Tour calendar, Chicken Hill & Beyond – a photo collection of some of the charming homes surrounding the Chicken Hill section of Pottstown, photographed by local artist Carol Brightbill,” adds Amy Bathurst Francis, Pottstown GoFourth co-chair.

Priced at $15 each, the 2024 calendars will be available for purchase in December. All proceeds will help with Pottstown GoFourth’s Fourth of July fundraising efforts,” Francis noted.

Calendars will be available for purchase at www.pottstowngofourth.com.

“We can’t wait to welcome you to the 5th Annual Historic Pottstown Holiday Tours!” Francis added. “Get ready to be captivated by the history, beauty, and warmth of Pottstown.”
