Garrett Hill restaurants will be able to offer outdoor dining between March 1 and November 30 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Radnor’s Board of Commissioners recently voted four to two to add the commercial area of the Garrett Hill neighborhood and the township’s Planned Laboratory-Office Districts to the township’s outdoor dining areas, writes Richard Ilgenfritz for Main Line Media News.

Commissioner Sean Farhy supports the decision saying it will “have a positive effect on the community.”

Garrett Hill was originally excluded from the township’s outdoor dining ordinance because the neighborhood’s commercial area is denser and closer to a residential area. Because of this more restrictions are needed including earlier closing times and a limited number of seats outside.

Garrett Hill restaurants will be able to offer outdoor dining between March 1 and November 30 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Outdoor seats will be limited to 40% of the indoor seats for the restaurant and a 50-foot setback is required between the outdoor dining area and home property lines.

Some township residents like Roberta Winters of Rosemont, have raised some concerns.

She said there have been a lot of properties switching ownership lately and that the “ordinance should wait for the comprehensive land use plan.”
