Five 2023 Montgomery Awards winners were spotlighted during a ceremony held last week at Meadowood Senior Living in Worcester Township, according to a staff report from The Times Herald.

The 56th annual initiative, sponsored by the Montgomery County Planning Commission, recognizes the best in planning and design, advocacy, and environmental stewardship. Throughout the program’s history, 239 awards have been presented to communities, professionals, and organizations all over Montgomery County.

Past winners include redevelopment projects and revitalization efforts, as well as transportation improvements and historic and open space preservation.

The Jacob Reiff Park Stream and Floodplain Restoration in Lower Salford Township received this year’s Environmental Stewardship Award. The project revolved around major stream and floodplain restoration efforts along Skippack Creek’s west branch.

“The program recognizes those who go above and beyond to enhance our county,” said Montgomery County Commissioners’ Chairman Ken Lawrence Jr. “This year’s winners demonstrate how vision and collaboration result in creating exceptional places in Montgomery County.”

Other projects that were highlighted include SORA West, a mixed-use development in Conshohocken; the Park to Perkiomen Trail Connector, Upper Salford Township; PV Woods, Perkiomen, and Lower Frederick townships; and the Reserve at Maybrook, Lower Merion Township.
