The non-uniform compensation and classification study will focus on 144 full-time township positions and about 280 employees.

More than 30 years after the Lower Merion Township last conducted a study on township employee compensation and classification, officials give approval for a new study, writes Richard Ilgenfritz for Main Line Media News.

The non-uniform compensation and classification study will focus on 144 full-time township positions and about 280 employees.

HR Compensation Consultants, LLC will conduct the study for the township. The base cost of the study is $64,490.

The township has also allotted extra funds for the analysis of part-time positions and employee benefits.

If these analyses are included, the study’s price tag will be closer to $76,955.

Brandon Ford, the township’s assistant manager, said that so much has changed since the last study that there are a lot of factors to consider including new job requirements and wage equity between union and non-union workers.

“Job responsibilities today do not reflect what was in 1991,” Ford said.

“Jobs have grown increasingly complex with not only the needs of the community but the technology we use in our day-to-day activities.”
