Blue Bell Mother and Young Son Rescued from Burning Car in Norristown

By

When Blue Bell resident Janilsa Ramos started her day on Halloween, she had no idea she would have Good Samaritans to thank for saving her life and the life of her 3-year-old son that day, writes Alyana Gomez for 6abc.

She and her son Max were on their way home when her car started smoking on the Dannehower Bridge in Norristown.

When she went to pull over, Todd Pennington, John Laughlin, and Jimmy Staiber were driving to work and noticed flames underneath the car.

They immediately took the next exit and turned around to help.

“Before I could even put the car in park, my friend John just got out of the front seat, ran down to let her know, and she had no idea her car was on fire,” Staiber said.

“She went to go grab the back door and when she opened up the back door, I seen a baby seat and a kid and it really hit different then. I said, ‘Dang, that’s not just one life that’s two lives right there,’” said Laughlin.

Staiber grabbed Max and they all got safely away from the car right before it was engulfed in flames.

In the chaos, Ramos wasn’t able to thank the three young men, but later she was able to find them through Facebook.

She said she didn’t know if she and Max would be here without them.
