Warren Lewis, the owner of his own landscaping company for almost 40 years, understands the powerful impact beautiful outdoor spaces can have on a community, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6ABC.

That is why he devotes his free time to public beautification projects like a recent one in Gladwyne.

“I drive by intersections, you know, on my way to and from jobs,” he said.

“And every space that I look at could be better. So I say, I could do that. And so, I do do it.”

One of those intersections he has transformed is the one at Williamson Road and Youngsford Road in Gladwyne.

Drivers passing by can’t help but notice that what once used to be just grass and weeds is now an impromptu garden of colorful flowers.

“I introduced myself by doing my work and leaving my sign,” Lewis explained.

“The Gladwyne Civic Association manages the property, so I brought them around and now they’re thrilled to see that somebody actually cares for their space.”
