Kathy Romano has made an indelible mark on the Philadelphia radio industry as part of the “Preston & Steve” on 93.3 WMMR in Bala Cynwyd, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

She also hosts her own weekly show, “Her Story” on 95.7 BEN-FM where she features women who are making a strong impact on the world.

This fall she celebrates 20 years on the “Preston & Steve” show, so she sat down with Main Line Today to discuss how she got her start in the business.

Romano, who lives in Conshohocken, told the magazine she actually started out in television at NBC 10. When she was filling in for the traffic reporter, Preston Elliott and Steve Morrison took notice of her and mentioned her on their show at Y100 (WRNB).

She sent them her resume and sat in on their show for a few months before they offered her a job.

She said, “I was probably about 10 years in when I realized, ‘Oh wait, radio is my career.” I was like, oh, I fell into this job. We’ll see where it goes and see how long it lasts. And 10 years in, I was like, “Oh yeah, radio is my career.”
