Norristown-raised designer Conrad Booker is known for using unconventional materials in his architectural garments. But he’s got an eye for the practical.

He shared his chic yet professional fashion tips for autumn along with his personal style philosophy with Main Line Today’s Eileen Smith Dallabrida.

Booker describes his style as transitional and uses his architectural expertise to inspire his clothing designs. He grew up sewing clothes for his mother and for friends doing fashion shoots.

But his personal style icon is his own grandmother, who worked at a clothing factory and wore sleek suits with hats.  “She made beautiful clothes,” he says.

His indispensable clothing staples are an unpressed button-down white shirt and a ball cap which he always wears.

For a chic autumnal office-attire outfit, Booker suggests pairing black Dorothee Schumacher trousers with a bright violet Milley Aery Cady trim blazer from Posh Collections.

He suggests accessorizing it with a Cynthia Gale NY bangle and Nikko hoop earrings from Bario Neal, complemented by a gold-heeled Dries Van Noten Mary Jane pump.
