McHugh has had a love for fantasy and science fiction for as long as he can remember, but his road to becoming a published author wasn’t a straight shot.

Tim McHugh, a graduate of Cheltenham High School, recently published his first novel, “A Dark and Silent Song,” writes Ryan Genova for Glenside Local.

The novel is about gifted sorcerer named Barric who gets caught up in political intrigue when a young king takes the throne.

The book summary states, “As the threat of war looms, Barric finds himself entangled in a battle of espionage where he must face the morality of his actions and confront the demons of his secret past…”

McHugh has had a love for fantasy and science fiction for as long as he can remember, but his road to becoming a published author wasn’t a straight shot.

He grew up in Cheltenham, graduating from Cheltenham High School in 2017 and then studying economics at Penn State University.

He moved to Boston to find work and it wasn’t until three years ago that he decided he want to try to write his own fantasy and science fiction stories.

McHugh has had short stories published in MetaStellar, The Ansible and other magazines and now he has his debut novel available on Amazon.

He credits his English teacher at Cheltenham, Mr. Topper, for drilling some important writing strategies in his head like “show, don’t tell.”
