Sixty-two-year-old Glenn Laveson, a lifelong sports fan from Northeast Philadelphia, channels his fervor for Philadelphia sports into poetic expressions, writes Dave Uram for KYW Newsradio.

Laveson reminisces about the days when his father introduced him to the world of Philadelphia sports, taking him to The Vet to witness Steve Carlton’s pitching prowess.

This early exposure, especially to the Phillies, cemented his status as a die-hard fan. Laveson radiates positivity, always holding onto the hope of a game-changing comeback.

While he doesn’t pen poems frequently, Laveson has covered around 15 diverse themes over the years, with not all centered on sports. However, when the muse strikes for a Philadelphia sports-themed poem, he meticulously crafts each word.

One of his recent poetic offerings provides a snapshot of the Philadelphia sports landscape, touching on the 76ers, the Flyers, the Eagles, and more.

Laveson’s creative process is deeply rooted in tradition. He begins by manually jotting down his thoughts on a legal pad. Only after refining his verses on paper does he digitize them. A hallmark of his poetry? The lines must rhyme.

In a heartfelt message to fellow Philadelphia sports enthusiasts, Laveson encourages them to passionately support their teams, embracing the rollercoaster of emotions that come with each game.
