Today, digital literacy skills are necessary for a successful job search.

Montgomery County’s Workforce Development Board, known as MontcoWorks, has received $45,000 in grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry to support the continued digital literacy efforts in the county.

With the funding, MontcoWorks in partnership with Full Circle Computing will now be able to support four classes of foundational digital literacy programming. Each class will consist of three-week sessions that will focus on the platforms and applications necessary for a successful job search.

This is the second round of grant funding for digital literacy for MontcoWorks and Full Circle this year. Previous funding allowed over 40 job seekers to receive comprehensive digital literacy programming.

There is no cost for the participants of the program, and they can receive a Microsoft Office Specialist certificate at the end of the session.

Susan Clauser, director of adult education and a MontcoWorks board member, organized a session at Keystone Opportunity Center in Souderton earlier in the year.

“In a world where digital literacy skills are a necessity, the Full Circle’s three-week course built not only the skills and confidence of the participants, but also opened doors to better employment and training opportunities in the future.”
