IKEA’s ‘Big Blue Bag’ Will Welcome Visitors to CollegeFest in Philly This Weekend

The “Big Blue Bag” is an inflatable version of IKEA’s iconic blue “Frakta” shopping bag.

Conshohocken-based furniture superstore IKEA will be bringing its 19-foot inflatable shopping bag to CollegeFest in Philadelphia this weekend, writes Franki Rudnesky for PhillyVoice.

The “Big Blue Bag” is an inflatable version of IKEA’s iconic blue “Frakta” shopping bag.

Visitors to the CollegeFest block party can check it out in Aviator Park, at 20th and Race Streets on Saturday, September 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nonprofit Campus Philly is hosting CollegeFest on Saturday and Sunday, September 10. As part of the back-to-school celebration, college students can visit participating Philadelphia museums and ride SEPTA for free. There will also be chances to win Phillies and Flyers tickets.

The installation of the Big Blue Bag is a part of IKEA’s Giving Bag Campaign. The brand will also be offering giveaways and promotions at the block party on Saturday.

College students will have the chance to win $500 for IKEA shopping by posting a photo with the inflatable shopping bag on social media.

The Big Blue Bag has been traveling across the country all summer long and has made stops in New York City, Chicago, Houston, and the University of Maryland.

IKEA has been rapidly expanding its presence in the United States and plans on opening eight new stores and 900 new pickup locations for online purchases.
