The Philadelphia-area is home to some of the best sushi places.

While the Philadelphia area will always be known for its cheesesteaks and hoagies, restaurants here also dish up some great sushi, writes Kae Lani Palmisano, Maddy Sweitzer-Lammé, and Alex Tewfik for Philadelphia Magazine.

Here are some sushi places you should check out, the next time you have a craving:

Bluefin

Bluefin’s Chef Young Kim has been in the sushi business for almost 20 years and many young chefs train under him. He had three locations now: Bluefin Restaurant in East Norriton, Bluefin Sushi and Asian Cuisine in Glen Mills, and Bluefin Eagleview in Exton.

Bluefin does both traditional sushi and sashimi and modern dishes like tuna sundaes and miso-lobster mac and cheese equally well.

Locations: 2820 Dekalb Pike, East Norriton; 1102 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills: 555 Wellington Square, Exton.

Royal Sushi and Izakaya

Jesse Ito’s restaurant, Royal Sushi and Izakaya in Queen Village is the place to be to experience the omakase, an intimate 5-course meal where the chef selects the dishes. Reservations for the omakase are hard to get, but other popular dishes are the takeout nigri trays and chirashi bowls.

Location: 780 South 2nd Street, Philadelphia.

Sagami

Located in Collingswood, Sagami prepares authentic Japanese sushi which focuses on the right interplay between the rice, and vegetables, and protein.

Location: 37 West Crescent Boulevard, Collingswood.
