Longtime Sports Anchor Inducted into Philadelphia JCC Maccabi Hall of Fame

Michael Barkann, 61, has been an on-air sports personality for decades.

Michael Barkann, longtime sports anchor and reporter at NBC Sports, was inducted into the Philadelphia JCC Maccabi Hall of Fame at a recent ceremony in Wynnewood.

Barkann, 61, has been an on-air sports personality for decades. His daughter Emily, who coaches Maccabi tennis, did the honors.

He said, “I don’t know if I’ve ever felt prouder in my life.”

Barkann is a member of Main Line Reform Temple in Wynnewood. He said he has been cutting back on his on-air time to spend more time with his family.

He explained that it gives him “more time to spend preparing for what’s going on that night. And more time to take care of myself and stay healthy.”
