IKEA, which is based in Conshohocken, will open its San Francisco store at 945 Market Street on Wednesday, August 23 at 11 a.m., writes Vicky Jarrett for Furniture Today.

At the grand opening celebration, co-workers and city officials will host a short ribbon-cutting ceremony, and then customers will be invited to enjoy games, workshops, and giveaways.

“We are so excited to open the doors of our new IKEA store to our neighbors in the San Francisco area,” said Arda Akalin, manager of the IKEA San Francisco market.

“We can’t wait for our customers to experience the new store full of affordable home furnishings and solutions that reflect who San Franciscans are and how they live.”

Many of the home furnishing accessories focus on affordability, sustainability, and small-space living.

IKEA San Francisco will be a part of a new meeting place from global retail developer Ingka Group. IKEA is the first retail space to open in the building.

IKEA also has stores in Emeryville and East Palo Alto, California.
