This year’s American Dairy Association’s butter sculpture created by two Conshohocken artists was unveiled at the opening of the 2023 New York State Fair, writes Oswego County Today staff.

The sculpture which features a train being conducted by a cow and carrying kids fueling up on dairy foods was created to emphasize the nutritional value of dairy foods. The theme this year was “Dairy Every Day is a Healthy Way — Keeping Kids’ Health on Track.”

The artists Jim Victor and Marie Pelton of Conshohocken built the sculpture over 11 days using more than 800 pounds of butter. The duo has been making the annual sculpture for several years now.

Some studies have suggested that kids are not getting calcium and Vitamin D.

John Chrisman, CEO of American Dairy Association North East, said, “As kids head back to school, it’s an ideal time for parents to get their children’s health on track by pairing dairy products with other nutrient-rich foods to fuel their days for learning in the classroom and playing sports. Dairy farmers are strong supporters of children’s health through school nutrition programs and programs that combat food insecurity.”
