Many local connoisseurs of the BLT say that the heirloom tomato is the essential ingredient for a juicy sandwich, writes Hira Qureshi for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Tomato season is officially here, and many Philadelphia area restaurants are showcasing the produce on their menu.

The Landing Kitchen in Bala Cynwyd according to Qureshi, has some of the best BLTs in Philadelphia.

The restaurant is offering right now a $14 BLT with thick slices of heirloom tomatoes and crispy bacon on two slices of whole grain bread. A green goddess yogurt-based dressing brings all the flavors together.

Middle Child in Center City and Fishtown, Huda in Center City, and Miles Table on South Street also have their own unique BLT creations to celebrate the tomato.
