After closing That Special Look, the women’s boutique in Bala Cynwyd she ran for 36 years, Carole Ginsburg is continuing to work as a personal shopper under the same name, writes Selah Maya Zighelboim for the Jewish Exponent.

In addition to growing online competition, one of the main reasons for the change was her lack of work-life balance.

“I was stuck before,” said Ginsburg. “I would get up, I didn’t have time to go to the gym. It was all about getting to the store at 9 and leaving at 7, and I didn’t have a life.”

Now, she said, she can breathe again. In addition to her job, she has plenty of time to devote to traveling and volunteering.

Ginsburg currently has around 30 clients, all former customers. Her job also entails heading out to local boutiques, choosing the clothing for them, and figuring out different outfits.

Her clients do not pay anything for her service. Instead, the boutiques pay her commission.

“It’s a win-win situation,” said Ginsburg. “The store makes out, I make out, and the customer is extremely happy.”
