Due to reconstruction to widen the entrance ramp, the Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) Slip Ramp to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-476) in Towamencin Township is slated to close on Monday, July 31, 2023, according to PennDOT.

The ramp, which is located at Old Forty Foot Road, will be closed through mid-fall. Motorists will be directed to use the Pennsylvania Turnpike Lansdale Interchange to access southbound I-476.

Prior to the full closure of the ramp, some initial construction activities will take place on Thursday, July 27 between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

During this time period, the left turn-only lane will be closed from eastbound Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) to the slip ramp to southbound I-476. Motorists can still use the slip ramp using the left travel lane.

PennDOT said the improvements to the ramp include widening the southbound I-476 on-ramp to two lanes and constructing a second left turn only lane.

Motorists are advised to give themselves extra time when traveling near or through the work area. You can check road conditions at 511PA.com, which is free and available 24 hours a day.
