Payton Ridenour, a 19-year-old Pottstown woman, has been chosen for the 2023 BMX Racing World Championship Team, writes Angelina Palermo for USA Cycling.

She was appointed to the Elite Women’s team along with four other athletes.

To be a professional athlete in BMX is a dream come true for Ridenour.

She said, “Growing up, I have always looked up to the other professional athletes in BMX. I wanted to be just like them one day, and now to be in that position is a dream come true. I hope that I can fill their shoes and be the same role model to inspire kids in the sport.”

Ridenour added, ” I want to be someone who is remembered for their accomplishments, but also for who they are as a person.”

Twenty American athletes in total have been selected to the BMX Racing team competing at the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championship in Glasgow, Scotland. This will be the first World Championship where 13 events will be held across 7 disciplines.

The races will be held on August 12-13, 20223 at the Glasgow BMX Centre.
