Annamarie Chestnut, the owner of Annamarie’s in Royersford, has opened a second location in Berks County, writes Donna Rovins for The Mercury.

Chestnut, who opened her Montgomery County eatery nearly three decades ago, originally did not plan to expand her business. But when she got a call about a vacancy in a Birdsboro shopping center, she decided that taking on a new challenge was something she wanted to do.

“It seemed like a new adventure,” she said.

Her new location, named Annamarie’s on Main, is a little larger than her original restaurant. However, as she prepared to open the eatery at the beginning of the year, she admitted to being nervous.

“All new things come with the unknown,” said Chestnut. “I kept telling myself, ‘If we can feed 100 people a day, we can keep the lights on.’ Because this location is bigger in size, I didn’t know what to expect.”

But once she opened on January 31, she realized there was no need for nervousness. In fact, so many people showed up that she sold a week’s worth of food in a day.

Since then, the shop has been serving upwards of 400 customers a day on the weekends.
