Slots Still Available for VFMAC Summer Camp Now Underway
Valley Forge Military Academy & College summer camps have been a summer tradition on the Main Line for decades. Adults with memories of attending in their youth are now sending their own children to the fun-filled weeks of day camp.
Beginning this week, kindergarten to 8th-grade campers are returning to VFMAC to create their own memories of summer camp fun.
“We are so excited to be back,” said Sarah Samuels, director of auxiliary services at VFMAC. “Like many things, our camp was shut during COVID but this year, camp is open now through August 4th.”
For those in grades K-6, there are traditional summer camp activities, including outdoor activities, swimming, field trips, intramural sports, and arts and crafts.
On rainy days, there is an air-conditioned movie theater and gym.
“We have purposely combined a traditional camp experience with modern facilities,” Samuels said.
For youth with STEM interests, VFMAC has established for the first time a STEM camp. With its onsite state-of-the-art STEM lab, VFMAC offers campers passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math a place where they can explore their interests.
“STEM education is a big component of all classes at Valley Forge Military Academy during the school year. We know there is great interest among young people in STEM and offering a camp-focused experience keeps learning going through the summer,” Samuels said.
Campers arrive early and get the camp day going by 8:30 AM. After a full day of fun and games, they are ready to go home tired but excited for another day.
“VFMAC is convenient, right in the center of Wayne, and is known as a reliable and safe environment,” Samuels said. The camp is staffed by several VFMA teachers, some recent graduates of Valley Forge Military College, and other carefully vetted, trained, and screened counselors.
“All our leaders are trained in first aid and CPR,” she said.
There are a few slots remaining open for some weeks during the summer.
