Steven Yanni has been chosen as the new Superintendent for the Lower Merion School District, writes Richard Ilgenfritz for the Main Line Media News.

He has been Superintendent in the Upper Dublin School District for the past five years. And before joining Upper Dublin, Yanni served as assistant superintendent and later superintendent in New Hope-Solebury.

Earlier in his career, he was an elementary school principal in the East Pennsboro Area School District and a teacher in the Twin Valley School District.

“It is an honor to be selected to serve as the next superintendent of the Lower Merion School District,” said Yanni.

Yanni earned a Doctorate in Education from Immaculata University, where he also received the Distinguished Dissertation Award. He received a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University as well as a Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Pittsburgh – Johnstown.

Last year, he was recognized with the Patricia J. Creegan Award from the Pennsylvania Education for All Coalition for his unwavering commitment to inclusive education.

“The Board is extremely excited that Dr. Yanni will bring his experience as a dynamic, caring, and thoughtful educational leader to the Lower Merion School District,” said School Board President Lucy Klain.
