Hatfield Architectural Firm Sees Success in the Public Sector

A Hatfield architectural firm is attributing its success to the service they provide to public schools in the Philadelphia suburbs. KCBA Architects ranks No. 8 on the Philadelphia Business Journal’s list of largest architectural firms in the area, writes Todd Romero.

Founded in 1972, the 39-employee company additionally focuses on public projects outside of the educational realm, including township buildings and fire stations. The firm has seen a 56 percent increase in billings.

Mike Kelly, the principal of Project Development credits this boon with the service the firm provides. He tells the Philadelphia Business Journal that their creativity and attention to detail is appreciated by clients. They also place an emphasis on school safety when it comes to air quality, physical safety, or mental health.

“Building systems change all the time. We’ve been very much focused on indoor air quality for years and then Covid-19 hits and then we go, “See, yeah, that was kind of important,” said Kelly.

The firm has continuously worked with Bucks County Community College. Other projects include Colonial Middle School in Plymouth Meeting and Pottsgrove High School.
