Bryn Mawr’s Garrett Snider has more to boast about than being the grandson of the late Flyers owner Ed Snider. The 27-year-old wears many hats. He’s a real estate investor and strategic consultant. A child welfare advocate, Snider founded the Resilience Foundation and serves on the Philadelphia DHS Child Welfare Oversight Board, writes Kim Douglas for Main Line Today.

Snider also co-founded Reeds Organic Farm & Animal Sancturary and was recently appointed to the board of the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History.

While working in child welfare advocacy and serving on the board of a museum seem to be in completely different realms, Snider notes how these two spheres converge.

“When I first got involved in child advocacy, I learned about self-actualization—how the process is crucial to the development of every human being. History is an accessory to that process.”

Snider’s grandfather is set to be honored at the museum’s Only in America Gala this June. But Garrett says he would’ve hated the attention.

“I miss his presence, but the Weitzman channels his intensity and ideals to lift people.” says Snider.
