The Speech-Language Institute (SLI) of Salus University was awarded a $15,500 grant from the Eagles Autism Foundation in support of its work with clients who have autism.

The grant will support the purchase of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices for clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and will be used during therapy sessions for clients and caregiver training. In addition, the SLI will be able to lend AAC devices to clients who need them.

The funding provided by this grant will support the SLI mission to provide access to communication for clients with ASD.

“The SLI of Salus University is incredibly grateful to be recipients of the Eagles Autism Foundation grant. The funds we receive from this grant will allow us to have an even broader reach in supporting our clients and their families who are impacted by autism and will support our mission in ensuring all individuals have a voice,” said Kara Maharay, SLI Director of Clinical Education.

Since launching the Eagles Autism Challenge in 2018, the Eagles Autism Foundation has raised more than $20 million and funded 83 research projects and community grants.

“Once again, Dr. Emanuel DiCicco-Bloom and his esteemed panel of colleagues facilitated a thoughtful and well-organized scientific review process that went on to identify 20 projects, all of which have the potential to produce groundbreaking results in the field of autism. This process even led us to discover and fund our first global project.

“In many ways, 2022 was a record-setting year for the Eagles Autism Foundation, but we know there is more work to be done. We look forward to expanding on our mission and assisting even more families with the help of our community, fans, partners, and supporters,” said Jeffrey Lurie, chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Eagles.
