New Senior Living Facility in Bala Cynwyd Reflects Main Line’s Storied History
LCB Senior Living’s Bala Cynwyd residence celebrates the cultural history of the Main Line, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.
The Residence at Bala Cynwyd replaces Lee’s Shoddy Mill which was built in the 1870s and demolished in 2020. With their latest community, LCB wanted the architecture to reflect the history of the region.
“We wanted to create a modern building that pays homage to the historic use of the site,” said Meghann Van Dorn, director of interior design for The Architectural Team Inc. “I think one of the most exciting parts about this project is its connection to the Main Line, which is truly a fantastic treasure.”
The goal was to create a living experience that didn’t feel like senior care, but more of an “elegant” community, she said.
“You don’t feel like you’re sitting in a factory; you feel like you’re sitting in a high-end European hotel.”
Located on Rock Hill Road, the facilities include independent living, personal care, and reflections memory care. Residents who choose independent living can pick between one-or-two-bedroom studios with a full bathroom, kitchenette and plenty of natural light.
Residents will also be able to enjoy plenty of amenities like 24-hour support and security, housekeeping, a beauty salon, and gourmet dining options.
The Residence at Bala Cynwyd is open and accepting residents.
