Four Abington Senior High School students were recognized with awards at the prestigious Greenfield Youth Film Festival, the largest and most competitive in the region, according to a staff report from the Abington School District News.

According to its website, the Greenfield Youth Film Festival is a forum for young filmmakers from the metropolitan Philadelphia area to collaborate, create and showcase their work while expressing their creativity through film.

The academy-style awards night that highlights and recognizes students for their expression and effort results in the bestowal of trophies known as “Greenies.”

Maddie Krassner won a third-place Greenie for her film, Revenge, in the Narrative category. The film pairs stark black-and-white visuals with an ironic soundtrack to tell a story without any words being spoken.

James Creighton and Aiden Gregory were awarded the Best Producer title for their work, On the Other Hand. The movie is a darkly comic story of a kid who has a sentient puppet stuck to his hand.

Finally, Vince Hessenthaler was recognized with the Best Editing award for New Normal. His entry used sound clips from news stories about school shootings, combined with visuals that deal with the emotions of one student after the loss of a friend.
