Abington resident Claudine Thomas, the chief academic officer and academic dean of Moore College of Art & Design, is surrounded by creativity each day, writes Kristen Schott for Philadelphia Magazine.

She even extends her passion for art to her home life, where she is writing a work of young-adult historical fiction.

She also loves to spend time cross-stitching.

“Cross-stitching mimics the joy of coloring in childhood but slows down the creative process long enough for me to escape into my imagination,” she said.

The mother of four and owner of two cats is currently spending her free time binging Abbott Elementary.

She started her new position in January and has been enjoying every part of it so far.

“I get to work with faculty and staff who are dedicated to creative art and design practice and invested in helping students reach success,” she said.

She has also made sure to personalize her office with pictures and paintings from home.

“My daughter’s painting created during the pandemic hangs in my office,” she said.
