Bruni, a Schwenksville native, started playing in middle school. She spent years perfecting the craft, before she became a first-team all-state selection at shortstop during her junior and senior years. However, many still doubted that she would be able to achieve her dream of playing Division I softball.

“I took it as a challenge,” she said. “I get a fire under me when somebody thinks I can’t do something. For me it was just more fuel.”

Bruni overcame her high school and college doubters, becoming one of the best players in the history of the University of South Florida. She even ended up being a social media star after she started posting instructional videos on Instagram.

She grew from 2,000 followers to more than 100,000 within a month when a few of her videos went viral. This allowed her to secure several sponsorships and partnerships.

Now, she is a nurse who is preparing to live her professional softball dream.
