The Valley Forge Medical Center facility in Norristown is currently undergoing a renovation, reported Priscilla Liguori for WFMZ 69 News.

The entire interior is being redone, with more medical equipment and staff being added as well.

“We’re going from old to new,” said Mark Matzliach, center administrator. “We’re planning on having a physical therapist come on board.”

The East Norriton Township facility currently has 86 beds. Its point of distinction in the area are the integrated services provided there, which blend traditional medical care with addiction rehabilitation.

“Because of the fentanyl use, we see a lot of abscesses and wound care needed,” said Ashley Hosseini, business development representative at the healthcare provider.

The center also serves individuals with chronic conditions who end up using various substances after being prescribed opiates for pain relief. Staff believe that treatment plans that consider the patient’s chronic illness lead to long-term success.

“I believe all of us can fight this disease and be successful,” said Darron Shanks, onsite peer support director.
