Its Official: The Sesame Place Water Tower, an Iconic I-95 Sight, Is Coming Down
After waiting to see what would become of a Bucks County icon, residents and visitors are now seeing a local monument come down.
The Sesame Street water tower, the largest advertisement for the popular Sesame Place theme park in Bucks County, is finally being demolished. As of April 11, only the top of the structure has been taken down.
The Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority approved bidding for the demolition of the tower last year.
A common sight for drivers on I-95 going to/from Philadelphia, the tower has remained unused for some time, acting only as an aesthetic sight for drivers and families in the area.
While the tower has become synonymous with travelers’ arrival at the popular Sesame Place theme park, it has not been used for its intended purpose for five years. That, combined with the upkeep and decaying siding, has made the tower useless to the township.
