Proposed look at the new Conshohocken SEPTA parking garage.

The parking garage that SEPTA is planning on building to serve its Conshohocken Station will cost the transportation authority $48,330,000, reported Kevin Tierney for More Than the Curve.

The project will increase the number of parking spaces at the station from 118 to 528, with each of the additional 410 spots projected to cost $117,878.

The budget for the parking spaces is separate from the one for the actual station, which is now being improved and relocated upriver.

In its proposed capital budget for 2024, SEPTA said that the project — being implemented in support of PennDOT’s I-76 Integrated Corridor Management Program — “… provides for design, property acquisition, and construction of a multi-level smart parking facility.”

The text of the budget proposal continues: “SEPTA is [forecast] to receive $10 million in Federal Highway Administration Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality [Improvement] program dollars to support this project. Design was completed in 2022.”

SEPTA has been working on several parking projects in the Philadelphia region, but as of now, the station in Conshohocken is the only one slated to move forward.
