A Delaware County home once belonging to Philadelphia Phillies legend Mike Schmidt is up for sale at $4.975 million, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The 12,000-square-foot home in Media has seven bedrooms and six-and-a-half baths. It’s just off the Springton Reservoir on Providence Road.

Schmidt bought the home in November 1979 for $490,000. That was the year before the Phillies took the World Series in 1980 over the Kansas City Royals.

Schmidt was named MVP for the National League and the World Series in the 1980 season. He has since made the MLB Hall of Fame.

Schmidt sold the home in 1992 to Vertex Inc. founders Rainer Westphal and his wife, Antoinette, for an undisclosed price.

Vertex is a King of Prussia-based tax technology software company valued at $3.4 billion.

The home is on 3.4 acres, with a landscaped front yard, a pool, a large patio, and outdoor entertainment space. The French country-style home was built in 1968. It boasts marble floors, chandeliers, a state-of-the-art kitchen, floor-to-ceiling windows, and three wet bars.

Schmidt bought the home from the family of Delaware County attorney J.H. Ward Hinkson, who died in 1973 at age 77.
