Forbes released its 2023 world’s billionaire list, which includes what may be some startling news for area residents: A line occupant at a Bryn Mawr Wawa? A Germantown Academy classmate? He or she could be sitting on a ten-digit net worth.

As Victor Fiorillo reported in Philadelphia Magazine, four of the top-ten earners in Pennsylvania either live in Montgomery County or are connected here.

Jeff Yass is one.

From his Lower Merion home, he operates as both a poker mastermind and a global options mogul for Main Line trading-tech firm Susquehanna International Group.

Either way, he is worth an estimated $28.5 billion — roughly the gross domestic product of Iceland. It’s a sum that ranked him number one in the state and 48th in the world.

The next most financially gifted Montgomery County resident is Michael Rubin, former 76ers partner and current CEO of sports-merchandising company Fanatics.

Rubin’s collection of assets and earnings puts his valuation at $11.4 billion. That’s enough to rank the Bryn Mawr resident No. 151 across the globe.
