A popular music venue in Bucks County will be celebrating the life of their late founder with stories and music.

John and Peter’s, a popular bar and music venue located at 96 South Main Street in New Hope, recently announced the passing of co-founder Peter Price. Starting the colorful venue in the early 1970s with John Larsen, the bar has become known for showcasing many bands over the past five decades, many of whom went on to fame and acclaim.

As a way of remembering his legacy the best way the venue can, a celebration of his life will be held at the bar on May 7. Stories from staff, friends, and musicians will begin at 1 PM, followed by live music until 6 PM.

The venue recently celebrated 50 years of music and memories with a series of concerts over the course of a week earlier this month.

The upcoming publication of a new book that covers their 50 year-long journey at the forefront of live entertainment in the area is also being celebrated. “Still Drinkin’ & Smokin’, Rockin’ & Rollin’” will be released on June 14. Written by authors Amy Yates Wuelfing, Joan Arkuszewski, and Loren Hunt, the book covers the long history of the bar and music venue.

The brightly-colored bar has been a staple of New Hope culture for decades. Changing hands in the last couple years, Price had been able to sit back and enjoy the rocking venue he built up.
