Given its multicultural culinary excellence, top-rated brewing scene, and ability to embrace numerous ethnic heritages, Montgomery County is a great place to mark St. Patrick’s Day 2023. The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board has poured forth the following bar/pub recommendations for the week of wearin’ of the green.

Eat Drink and Be Irish

Jack Cassidy’s Irish Pub, Pottstown

Mar. 17

It’s an all-day Irish celebration that starts with a hearty Irish breakfast. Following is a lunch-dinner menu of shepard’s pie, Irish banger, and corned beef and cabbage with $5 Guiness draughs, Seamus’ Irish red and $4 Killians & Smithwick’s bottles.

St. Patrick’s Passing

Murder Mystery Dinner at William Penn Inn, Gwynedd

Mar. 17

Without A Cue Productions present this Auld Sod-themed who-done-it puzzler, accompanied by a menu of braised boneless short rib, chicken française, haricot verts (green beans), and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Tickets are required; they can be purchased in advance at Eventbrite.

St. Patrick’s Day

Brothers Kershner Brewhouse, Skippack

Mar. 17–19

This St. Patrick’s Day celebration is too large and festive to be contained to one day. Live music includes performers Chris Huff, the King Brothers, and Matthew Gordon & Silvershade Scenery. Pints of Brothers Kershner brews are there for the raising on Friday. Irish food is available from the Skippack Village Italian Market.

St. Paddy’s Celebration

McAllister Brewing Company, North Wales

Mar. 17

Celebrate the holiday with a day full of Irish-inspired festivities, delicious food, and the famous McAllister hand-crafted ales. Chef Andrew will be serving up a special St. Paddy’s menu and the Royal Avenue Band will provide the soundtrack.

St. Patrick’s Day Bagpiper Train

Colebrookdale Railroad, Boyertown

Mar. 17

The evocative sounds of a real bagpipe will play a vintage train out of the station on this ride through a part of the county that visually mimics the Irish landscape. Once underway, passengers (ages 16 and older) feast on a multicourse, authentic Irish dinner that unfolds over the three-hour excursion.

Full details on all these events for St. Patrick’s Day 2023 are on the VFTCB website.
